The American College of Chest Physicians presented a study in October of 2007 at their 73rd annual international scientific assembly (Chest 2007) that showed that smoking patients who participated in one Hypnotherapy session were more likely to be non-smokers at six months compared with patients using Nicotine Replacement Therapy alone or patients who quit "cold turkey."

Question: Why use Hypnosis when I can take a pill from the doctor for smoking?

Question: Should I do a one hour Quick Session?
No, because you need to discover what stresses are making you smoke. That can't be done in one hour. The mind may replace the smoking with some other addiction if you don't get the reasons for smoking. A replacement addiction is also possible if you stop smoking cold turkey without getting your reasons for smoking.

If you are going to handle Smoking with Hypnosis, have it done properly and that means a minimum of 5 hours of session work. If you are 50 or over and have some serious health problems, your stresses will be higher and it likely will take more time. Give yourself a break and handle your stress so you improve your well being while you handle smoking.


Question: Will Hypnosis take me into a deep trance where I won't know what is being said?
No, these days that is not necessary, medium trance will do the job fine. Choose a Hypnotherapist who doesn't use deep trance - ask before you book. A medium trance will do just fine and you will be aware of what is being said that way.

Question: Why not use Cold Turkey for handling smoking?
Go ahead if it works for you. But if you are constantly stressed and stressing out others while you try to quit - why not do it the easy way - use Hypnosis! Do be aware that if you quit smoking yourself without taking on another addiction to replace the smoking, that is fine. But if you increase your eating or drinking or gambling - then you have simply switched addictions. A good Hypnotherapist will work with you to be sure you don't switch addictions.

Question: Why not use the free Smoking Help like patches, lozenges and gum? 
What good are cheap or free offerings if they don't work for you?  It is unknown if the people who can stop smoking using nicotine therapy end up with a replacement addiction as no research has been revealed on that. Also, there is a great benefit from knowing the stresses causing your smoking - handling them will improve your life because lots of smoking is related to relationship angst. Improve your relating behaviors and you improve your life!
 

Question: How quickly will I handle smoking with Hypnosis?

That depends on how many reasons you have for smoking and the method of Hypnosis you use to deal with it. Usually, as soon as all your issues are handled, you no longer need to smoke. 

Question: Will I have cravings for cigarettes?
